Healing Art: Gas

Nobody likes it when the dogs have gas, as it can be a deadly thing! I make sure to run all my errands and “STAY” out of the house when my little guy is passing the toxic waste.

“Since most dogs do not chew but rely on hydrochloric acid production from the stomach to break down food, one source of gas is an inappropriate amount of acid. Gas can also stem from unbalanced enzymes in the small intestine, or from sluggish movement through the large intestine.

Obviously changes to the diet can make a big difference. Fresh meats requiring chewing , plus cooked grains and raw veggies may eliminate some of the problems from processed foods.

The herb Alfalfa contains eight enzymes to help break the food down in the stomach. Add 1/4-3/4 teaspoon per meal if their food doesn’t already have it included. Oregano, Dill, Basil, and Garlic help normalize stomach secretions, as does 1 drop of Gentian. Papaya Leafe and Ainseed teas promote healthy digestion and can decrease gas dramatically.

Here’s one your dog will *certainly* love your for: a nice long massage! Massage the mid line of the stomach, the inside of the thighs and the hind legs to help stimulate movement through the intestinal tract and relieve the gas.”
