Most people know that there are tons of social networking sites out there (Friendster, Myspace, and Tribe…there are more, I’m sure), and if you aren’t on them you probably know someone that is. They’re hugely popular in the high school and college communities as a way to keep in touch when everyone starts relocating for their next step in life. At the law firm I used to work at, we created a profile for our office dog, Bean, on Friendster and within days he had something like 187 friends. It inspired me to go home and create a profile for all three of my frogs Hector, Albert and Frosty. At their peak, they amassed something like 12 friends.
When I started working here, I heard Laurette mention something about Dogster and Catster. At first I thought it was something like the deal I had going with my pets on a human networking site, but I had to check it out. It was amazing! It was beautiful! In my excitement, I had to check for an Amphibianster, but no luck. It amazed me that you could search by name, by breed, by age, and location. There are memorial pages for pups or cats no longer with us and a smartly written blog, too. Oh, how exciting! If only I had a dog or cat to put onto the site. Until that happens, I’m going to settle on getting all of our “Executives” their very own pages.
Once they’re all up, I’ll include the links in another posting and your friends can make friends with our friends…. how lovely!
