Doggie Play Dates?

I have often taken my dog, Kylie, to the local dog beaches or parks here in San Diego. Being my “only child” I wonder if she misses the companionship of other dogs. It’s when we’re playing at the beach or the park and I see the excitement in her eyes when another dog comes around that I realize how much dogs love social interaction. They are social creatures and, like us, Thrive on relationships with others. Also, much like human beings, they don’t always get along with everyone. Sometimes Kylie will want to chase after one dog, while other times she will come cowering over to me frightened of another. The funny thing is, she seem more brave around dogs five times her size (she is only 10 lbs.) and intimidated by those of equal weight. Whatever is going through her mind during her play dates, its enough to keep the both of us amused!
